Case Study
Center for Civic Engagement
This Colorado state-level nonprofit was responsible for reigniting the commitment, energy, and capacity of ordinary citizens to get involved and improve their communities. This big picture mission needed thoughtful and rigorous strategic planning to bring day-to-day operations into focus while leadership refueled their passion and faith.
Together with the executive director, a management team, and community stakeholders we led a series of strategic planning retreats. Result? A five year plan that was destined to make a big impact and short term quarterly goals that were realistic and motivating. Community stakeholders and the nonprofit heard each other in new and meaningful ways as they tackled, and solved, complex challenges that were slowing down progress. Ten years later, this organization, and its community, continues to thrive as a national model for the possibilities of well executed civic engagement. Robert Putnam is surely proud.
